I don't know what to call the subject I want to rant about, so I'm going to make up my own term for it. One of the more unfortunate divides we have in society is due to this self declaration of being "regular folks". It seems to be a catch all term for simple people who wish life was even simpler and that there weren't complex challenges in society. Anyway, they seem to be locked in mortal combat with the Elite.
Who are some of the champions of the regular folks?
Larry the Cable Guy
Toby Keith
Sean Hannity
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dale Earnhardt Sr.
I could go on with lots of other examples, but I don't need to be more of an elitist douchebag about the whole thing myself. Chris Matthews got him self into a little bit of trouble about this during the 2008 campaign, because he was touching a nerve in America. The first thing you might notice about many (most?) regular folks is that they are...white.
to be continued....

Not sure where this is going exactly, I have an idea, but not totally sure. That being said, I'm looking forward to part 2. During the campaign, I remember a lot of talk about the regular folks (yes, they were mostly white) and the so called elites. This of course got me to thinking about a post I put up on my blog back in August. I hope you'll click over and read it and look at the picture especially.
I admit that I do consider myself in the eltie category. Now it's certainly not because of wealth, but more because of my education, tastes in culture (Jackass not withstanding) and professional career. I make no apologies though I certainly don't go around flaunting in. For what it's worth, I hate all of the examples you gave, Hannity especially.
